Eva Xu of Gourmet Essentials and her staff recently donated $1476 to the Hospital Foundation in that will go towards the purchase of a Stereotactic Mammography Machine for the MRI.
This machine works with the mammography to pinpoint the exact location of a breast mass by using computer and digital x-rays taken from two different angles. Using these coordinates, the radiologist inserts the needle, advances it to the lesion and removes the tissue sample. This will save women from having to travel to out of town locations for the same procedure, reducing wait times for their biopsy.
We are grateful that Eva, who has owned Gourmet Essentials for three years has continued the tradition that began in 1998, with more than $29,990 raised to support health care for Campbell River and North Vancouver Island.
