We are grateful to the River Spirit Dragon Boat Team Team for their generous donation of $4,750 to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation. Their contribution was used to purchase a Digital Platform Scale for Cancer Care. In cancer care, a scale is more than just a tool for measuring body weight. It is a vital tool that supports:
-Monitoring weight loss or gain
-Dosing chemotherapy and medications accurately
-Nutritional assessment and support
-Assessing treatment tolerance
-Monitoring fluid retention and edema
On October 5, the team hosted its annual Walk of Strength, a 5-kilometre walk raising awareness and funds for breast cancer care in Campbell River. Thanks to River Spirit, our local cancer care team now has an essential tool to support patient safety, treatment planning, and overall well-being.
The River Spirit Dragon Boat Team, a proud member of the Campbell River Dragon Boat Society, was founded over 20 years ago as a breast cancer survivor team. As a non-profit, community-based organization, River Spirit is dedicated to promoting breast cancer awareness while supporting survivors and their families through the sport of dragon boating.
