Meet Bert!
Bert has worked at Island Health for 5 years and is an RN and Remote Outreach Technician with Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU), his role often takes him to other communities such as Gold River and Tahsis. When asked what he enjoys most about what he does, his answer is quick, heart felt and with a smile, “My clients.”
Bert has been playing our staff 50/50 Lotto for about 5 years because it is a ‘great cause’ and ‘half goes to support what we need to care for people’.
The priority of MHSU is to provide appropriate and accessible services with adults with serious mental illness and/or substance use issues. MHSU provides services in the contest of a wider support network including government agencies, aboriginal health organizations, community partners, public agencies, families and friends.
