The Campbell River Italian Cultural Society recently made a donation towards the Hematology Slide Review System for the Campbell River Hospital Laboratory.
This system performs automated digital analysis and has software applications that are designed for remote access, competency testing and education. The analyzer is a cell-locating device for analysis that locates and presents images of red and white blood cells, then pre-classifies, stores and presents for confirmation, the technologist can then use the system for decision support.
The analyzer will improve efficiency, traceability and quality of results and turnaround times, in addition to benefiting remote communities that have dispersed laboratory networks. There is clear potential to enhance the access to quality health care as well as cost and time savings with the implementation of this piece of equipment. The largest benefit for Campbell River and North Vancouver Island is the additional support for rare or unusual cases; our pathologists at the hospital can log on remotely and images can be shared across other Island Health sites that have the same system.
For 22 years the Campbell River Italian Cultural Society has hosted an amazingly fun and delicious family picnic at Miracle Beach Provincial Park, complete with homemade sausages and spaghetti, raising more than $28,000 in support of quality health care for Campbell River and North Vancouver Island.
Grazie! ❤️
