Did you know that the Campbell River Hospital Foundation supports Continued Education to Eligible Employees in the form of Bursaries that would like to further their education and training to better care for the patients that they work with?

Louise Smith, is an LPN that  has been working in elder care at Yucalta Lodge for a little over three years.  Louise has taken on the role of wound care champion at the care home.  One Challenge that she has been aware of in Long Term Care is the prevention and treatment of wounds and ulcers in her residents.  She enrolled in a Wound Management for Health Professionals through the University of Victoria to aid her in the enhancement of her position to better prevent wounds, as well as the assessment and healing/management of wounds when the occur.

This February Louise was the recipient of a $1000.00 bursary to allow her to take this program.  Thank you Louise for caring about your residents the way that you do, and the take the initiative to educate yourself even further to be able to provide quality healthcare, right in the care home.
